Hi, I’m Lauren.
I grew up in Dedham, Massachusetts, and ended up in New York City, where I recently graduated from the MFA playwriting program at Hunter College.
Before becoming a playwright—a relatively recent development in my life—I worked on political campaigns, in management consulting, and for the United Nations in Italy and New York.
I write dark, comic plays about class, families of happenstance, and seekers of hidden knowledge. They’re grounded in realism, but full of ghosts, invisible dogs, aliens, and other spirits.
My plays include Zeus IV, Altenheim, Wilson, and Snowbirds (Bushwick Starr Reading Series finalist 2023, Playwrights Realm Writing Fellowship semi-finalist in 2021). I was also a The Next Forever 2023, Risk Theater 2023 (still in the running), and WP Lab 2022 semi-finalist.
Many moons ago, I graduated from Harvard College with a degree in government, and later, the Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli in Rome, Italy, where I was an Intesa Sanpaolo scholar, with a master’s degree in economics.
I used to live in Rome and have a ton of recommendations if you’re visiting.
